Jet Airways and Kenya Airways enter into Codeshare and Frequent Flyer Partnership

Nairobi, July 15, 2010: Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, has entered into a Codeshare arrangement and network-wide frequent flyer partnership with Kenya Airways, Kenya's national carrier. Effective 15th July 2010, these flights are open for sale, and for travel, effective July 22, 2010. The frequent flyer partnership will also become effective on July 22, 2010.
Jet Airways will place its code on Kenya Airways’ daily services between Mumbai and Nairobi allowing JetPrivilege members to earn Tier Points, Tier JPMiles & Tier Bonus JPMiles for their activities when booked to fly on the 9W code of Jet Airways marketed, Kenya Airways operated codeshare flights.
In addition, effective July 22, 2010 the frequent flyer partnership will also allow the programme members of both airlines to earn and redeem miles on the entire network of the other airline.

Kenya Airways to acquire more aircraft

Nairobi July 1 2010… Growing passenger and cargo demand and a rapidly expanding route network is set to benefit from more capacity as Kenya Airways readies itself to add more aircraft to its fleet.
Speaking during a signing ceremony today at the head office, Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Titus Naikuni announced plans to acquire Embraer E190 aircraft before the end of the year.
The two aircraft deal marks the agreement to take delivery of the larger Embraer E190 jet model, the first of which is expected to be delivered later in the year. Dr Naikuni said that the aircraft would be leased from Jetscape, an Embraer aircraft leasing company.  The Embraer E190 will offer the high comfort that has come to be expected on the E170’s. In addition it will be fitted with state of the art in-seat In-flight Entertainment Technology. Last month Kenya Airways took delivery of two Embraer 170 long range planes, bringing their total number to five.

Kenya Airways joins the ranks of global airlines as a full SkyTeam member

Nairobi 24 June, 2010... In an effort to offer enhanced value added benefits to its customers, Kenya Airways, has become a full member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance, putting it at par with major global airlines.

Confirming the new development, Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and CEO, Dr Titus Naikuni said the airline was the first in Africa to achieve this feat.
 
Dr Naikuni explained that due to the new status of Kenya Airways as a full SkyTeam member, customers would now have access to a more comprehensive network of routes and destinations. “These are approximately 13,000 daily flights to 898 destinations in 169 countries, which is a significant increase from 6,402 daily flights to 451 destinations in 98 countries at the inception of the global airline alliance ten years ago,” he said.

Kenya Airways commences flights to Juba

Tuesday, June 8, 2010: Kenya Airways has launched daily flights to Juba; the capital of South Sudan from 7th June 2010.  The new route becomes its 40th destination in Africa and 49th worldwide.

The airline will operate direct flights on the 72seater Embraer jet daily from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 1140hrs, departing from Juba International Airport at 1420hrs.

KQ will offer its seamless connection to anticipated passengers travelling from Juba to Europe and Far East as well as to the other 39 destinations across Africa.

Kenya Airways flies to Muscat, Oman

5th May 2010 ... Kenya Airways has launched direct flights to Muscat; the capital city of Oman from 5th May 2010. 

The airline will operate three weekly flights every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday to Muscat.

Friday 16th, April, 2010… Due to the closure of Schiphol International Airport Amsterdam and Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris, Kenya Airways regrets to inform its passengers, customers, the travel trade and the public that the airline has now cancelled its flights KQ 116/16APR and KQ 114/115 16APR to Amsterdam and Paris respectively.
KQ 116/16APR was to depart Nairobi at 0810hrs subsequently delayed till 1045hrs and KQ 114/115 16APR at 0955 hours. KQ 102/16APR remains uncertain to operate unless advised otherwise by the London authorities.

Re-booking policy due to volcanic cloud - departures out of the UK

In view of the current situation, Kenya Airways customers holding tickets to/from any airport in the UK between 16th  and 20th Apr 2010 may take the following re-booking options:

Rebooking/Date Change:

1. Rebooking subject to space availability
2. Only one change allowed for outbound and inbound travel
3. In case the class booked is not available on the new date requested, passenger can be rebooked in another class within the same cabin.
4. Any passenger changing to a high season travel date must pay any fare or booking class differential.
5. In case new date requested is outside the max or min stay requirement of the class currently booked, passenger can upgrade ticket by paying difference between the fare originally paid and the new fare that would make passenger’s new travel dates be compliant to the min/max stay rules.
6. All Rebooking/Reissues must be done by 20th April 2010.
7. This is valid for tickets issued on or before  16th April 2010 for travel from
16th April 2010- 20th April 2010.
8. Travel must remain on Kenya Airways

Thursday 15th, April, 2010…Kenya Airways regrets to inform its passengers, customers, the travel trade and the public that due to the unforeseen act of nature; volcanic eruption in Iceland, the airline has now cancelled its flights to and from London and Amsterdam until further notice.

Due to a volcanic dust cloud we have been advised that Heathrow Airport will be closed tonight, 15 April 2010.
All passengers booked on KQ101 Heathrow to Nairobi tonight will be re-booked onto KQ101 tomorrow night 16 April 2010.

Any passengers disrupted from the KQ101 tonight, 15 Apr 2010 who do not wish to travel will be allowed a full refund.
